  1. Ukrainians can visit friends without a call

Ukrainians often just call and say, “I’ll come in 20 minutes”, or they don’t even call, and just come. At first, it may seem like a rude intervention, but then you just realize that Ukrainians are hospitable and a more open nation. This makes them more friendly.

  1. It is necessary to take off shoes at home

Some Ukrainians just take off their shoes, others offer you home slippers. Sometimes it is very funny, especially for children. It is not customary in the United States to take off shoes at home. Asking to take off your shoes may even offend some. But it is worth remembering that Americans almost always use a private car, occasionally walk, so the shoes themselves will not leave stains on the carpet.

  1. Ukrainians are demanding to keep promises

Fernando is originally from Mexico but has been working in Ukraine for a year. He is surprised by the demands of Ukrainians, “If you promised something, you have to do it,” says the man. “This is not bad and makes the relationship transparent, but it seems to me that Ukrainians are under constant stress. They always owe something to someone.”

  1. Making remarks is OK

Julia lives with her husband in Sicily and has a blog where she talks about the life of locals. “If something worries you, you can’t just say it. Sicilians try to avoid conflicts,” she explains. According to Julia, such behavior reduces the level of tension on the island, where almost everyone knows everyone. In Ukraine, you can express your feelings with ease, and it’s Ok.

  1. They all are superwomen

A Ukrainian woman, as a comics hero, can do anything. She can be on childcare leave, cook for the family, clean the house and have a few hours of part-time work at once.  But the strangest thing is that Ukrainian women will feel that they do not have enough time for some other tasks.
